Bioenergy training courses

This spring, the European Bioenergy Research Institute (EBRI) at Aston University is launching a suite of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses to enable you to increase your personal knowledge and skills in key areas relating to the bioenergy sector.

Designed by EBRI’s world-leading scientists and researchers, each course is a 3-day stand-alone course and you can just participate in one course… or all of them!

These courses are part of a pilot scheme, accredited by IChemE and supported through BioenNW, which allow individuals to take these courses at no cost to themselves or their organisation for a limited time.

1. 13th - 15th April 2015 - The fundamentals of bioenergy

This course will introduce participants to the bioenergy technologies available to convert biomass into energy and will allow them to develop concepts to enable the better understanding of the challenges and limitations that these technologies might face.

Please note that this CPD is now fully booked. If you would like to be added to the waiting list, please email bioenergy@aston.ac.uk.

2. 11th - 13th May 2015 - Bioenergy applications

This course has been designed to introduce participants to the various value adding applications for bioenergy and the wider bioeconomy, including the production heat, power and an introduction to the way bioenergy projects are evaluated by finance houses providers.

3. 1st - 3rd June 2015 - Introduction to biomass

This course will introduce participants to the complex nature of biomass as a resource for energy. The module will cover aspects such as common sources and sustainability of supplies, technical assessment and characterisation of materials and reliability and risk in the supply of biomass for energy.
